Q1 2025: Wipro is pleased to announce the development and validation of RTC-10, a new tool created by our Wellbeing and Resilience team specifically to support content moderators. Recognizing the vital role content moderators play in ensuring safe digital spaces and the potential psychological challenges they face, we developed RTC-10 to address the scarcity of contextually relevant and psychometrically sound assessments in this field. While wellness initiatives exist, a formalized tool to measure the specific impact of content exposure has been needed. Developed with guidance from clinical and behavioral research experts and validated through direct input from content moderators, RTC-10 is grounded in their real-world experiences. Drawing inspiration from frameworks on Secondary Traumatic Stress, PTSD, and Occupational Stress, RTC-10 assesses symptom severity, categorizes impact levels, and informs targeted interventions through a tiered response system. Having been utilized in over 2,000 cases and subjected to rigorous psychometric validation, RTC-10 offers a scientifically sound method for evaluating and supporting moderator well-being. We recently presented RTC-10 at the Global Majority Research Center (GMRC) Speaker Series, part of the Trust and Safety Research Coalition at the Trust & Safety Foundation (TSF). Our presentation focused on the tool’s design, development, validation, and application, including case studies, psychological risks, and tailored interventions, while also exploring key learnings, challenges, and future research directions to advance global Trust & Safety well-being.
Q3 2025: Concluded the first controlled study on the impact of microbreaks in Trust & Safety content moderation. Findings show that short, structured breaks significantly improve wellbeing, focus, and task accuracy in moderation decisions—directly contributing to safer digital experiences for youth. This research was presented at The Learning Ideas Conference 2025 (watch video) and has been accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed Springer journal.
Q3 2025: Developed and deployed AIRA, an AI-powered Resilience Assistant designed specifically for content moderators. AIRA offers immediate, first-line wellbeing support through private, scalable conversations, with human-in-the-loop escalation for high-risk cases. By sustaining moderator mental health, AIRA strengthens the systems that keep young people safe online. AIRA was showcased at TSPA TrustCon 2025 as an innovation in Trust & Safety workforce resilience.
